Intervention in the restoration process of the rear section of Casa Batlló, a private area linked to the original residence of Josep Batlló and Amalia Godó. Our work focused on the treatment and painting of the wrought-iron railings, planters and grilles — key elements within Antoni Gaudí’s artistic and symbolic vision.
Shot blasting to clean the iron and remove old paint and rust.
Cataphoretic coating (cataphoresis) to protect both the interior and exterior of the pieces against corrosion.
Technical priming to ensure optimal adhesion.
Application of C4/C5 paint, providing maximum resistance and adapted to highly demanding environments.
Managing the logistics of dozens of pieces of different dimensions — some of them large in size — was essential. These elements were transported to specialised centres for the cataphoresis treatment and later painting. Throughout the process, it was crucial to ensure that each piece returned to its exact original position, with its integrity preserved and the treatment optimally applied. The combination of technology, precision and expertise was key to achieving an impeccable result.
The pieces were painted following the original colours identified by Casa Batlló’s restoration team, recovering the original white-beige tone of the ironwork, in harmony with other elements of the house. A technical and aesthetic result that helps restore the authenticity, light and harmony of one of the jewels of Catalan Modernisme.
